Farm and Barn Friends

We spent about four hours outside today at two area hotspots: Reston Zoo and Frying Pan Park. Our day started with an early playgroup at 9. At 10 we headed to Reston Zoo and met up with friends. The Reston Zoo is a petting zoo/zoo zoo. We bought a cup of feed and spent a lot of time in the sheep/goat area. It was FREEZING. We've had a temperature drop of 30 degrees from yesterday, so, while we were dressed well, we were still cold. Think strong winds. Anyway, we then saw the pig and the rabbits, the reptile house, and then took the tractor pull ride. While it was fun, the driver stopped and talked A LOT. The camel "Jack" chased the tractor and bit at ankles. James' eyes were tearing from the wind. Besides that, it was fun.

Then, this afternoon, we headed to Frying Pan Park - it's great because it's a Fairfax Cty. park so it's FREE. Petting zoo, playground, and tractors! We met up with several friends and had a great time.

I think four hours in the great outdoors is fantastic - especially since bedtime was SO EASY.
