I'm Tired

I'm tired and it's only Wednesday. Nate hasn't slept well the last two nights. I've sort of convinced myself he's going through a growth spurt. I can only hope. I just tried to get him in his crib for a nap but twice he awoke very quickly to EAT. And EAT. So I'm pretty tired (and am yawning as I type this).

On Monday James had school so Nate and I visited Barbara to see the new portions of her house in Great Falls - it looks great! We enjoyed some coffee and chat time until I went to get James. On the way to preschool, I didn't believe the signs that said that Springvale Road was closed. Why would I not believe this? This is stupid. Believe the street signs. That are flashing at you and screaming detour. So after I get to the closed road, I turned around and high tailed it to preschool a different way. I am grateful that Nate wasn't screaming this whole time - my pulse was already racing. I was only two minutes late and it was all fine, but I've learned a valuable lesson. Reading is a great skill and believing the signs is even better.

Yesterday I hosted Melissa and Owen and Laura and Logan for playgroup here at our house. The boys spent most of the time in James' room with the door shut. James is into this thing of shutting his door when the kids play in there. It wouldn't be a big deal but only James can easily open the door. So we had to convince him to leave it open. Oy. After a fun morning and lunch, James took a good nap and then I strapped both boys in the double stroller for a walk. Brilliantly, I decided that I could get to Giant and back to get my "mommy" medicine that had been re-filled. Actually, it was a nice day for a walk - I was pushing a combined 80 pounds (40 pounds of stroller, 26 pounds of toddler, and 14 pounds of infant) so it was a good workout. :) I got my prescription, James got a cookie and Nate got fresh air. Yea!

Today we spent the morning at Sterling Community Center park with our playgroup. Very fun. I am learning new skills all over the place this week - in addition to reading being reinforced as a good skill, I have learned that I can change a crappy toddler diaper in the back of my minivan while wearing my sleeping infant in the Bjorn. Kudos to Nate for not waking up during this process. After James wouldn't stop hitting Matthew, I decided it was time to go home. We hit the KFC drive through for some unnecessary fried chicken and then came home. James decided to drive me crazy for a while, Nate decided that napping in his crib was passe (see above, and Nate is currently lying on the Boppy on my chest), and Monty decided to bring a dead mole up to the back door. After I screamed multiple times he got the picture THAT I WANTED HIM TO LEAVE. WITH THE MOLE. AND PUT IT SOMEWHERE. FAR, FAR AWAY.

Suffice it to say, I'm tired. The day will perk up considerably very soon - my friend Allison from my college a cappella group has recently moved here and she's coming for playtime and dinner. I haven't seen her in probably 10 years.
