Christmases 2009

As I'm suffering from the LONGEST EVER VIRUS, which has manifested itself in my throat, making every swallow COMPLETE AND UTTER TORTURE, I will keep this post short and sweet. If I were creative or cared more, I'd make it all rhyme. BUT ALL I REALLY WANT ARE SOME FRIGGIN DRUGS. Which the doctor won't give me. I'm calling again tomorrow to plead my case. I mean, I think not sleeping and being in pain for TWO WEEKS justifies antibiotics, Vicodin, and freaking Ambien. I mean, COME ON.

Now that that's over, here's our Christmas in bullets:

1) Christmas with my parents - very low key and nice. Boys had a blast, although Nate was sick and James was just on the cusp.
2) Christmas with the in-laws - the drives to and from, thank GOD, were mercifully easy. 5.5 hours each way. God bless Nate for being really calm (paci helps!) and for both boys watching way too much tv. Otherwise, we had a very low key and relaxing week. Unfortunately, I started feeling worse (Nate and James bounded back with youthful exuberance, I wanted to run and hide under my covers but THEY WOULD HAVE FOUND ME). So I spent all week eating way too much (which I find ridiculous considering how hard it was to eat) and drinking too much. Then, of course, not sleeping because of sharing rooms and again, the throat pain. Besides THAT, we had a nice visit and I did my best to soldier on and it was fun. Gee, I'm complaining a lot, aren't I??? Great part about the week was that our nieces played with the boys ALL THE TIME. It was awesome. I just wish we lived closer. I even mentioned having Emma (12) come down and stay with us for a week to help out. Unfortunately, she's allergic to cats....we'll see. It would be great.  She's so wonderful, as is Sami (9), and I'd love to see them more.
3) Christmas with just us - we arrived home on Sunday around 1 and immediately noticed that Santa had visited us. There are no photos of this as the car wasn't yet unpacked and I was wearing the matching hot pink bootylicious pre-teen running suit my MIL got me. When it says "Fun for Girls" on the label, EVEN when it's a size large, it's probably NOT for a mid-30s woman. Anyhoo, I unwrapped the presents I'd ordered for myself (and Greg, by the way, had surprised me with a GPS system for the car and lovely pearl earrings - although let's all admit that the GPS is for the "family") and Greg and the boys were surprised. I do enjoy seeing all their faces get so excited!
4) Christmas w/ my brother and his family will be on New Year's Day at my parents house. It will again be low key and fun but full of energy. That's what 4 boys ages 7 and under do - run, play, and jump and all other sorts of crazy things.

So that's it in a complainy nutshell. I do apologize. But I feel like there are shards of glass in my throat. I need to avoid all citrus until this is over. I do not, like in a moment of idiotic thought from a moment ago, need to avoid alcohol. I mean, the doctor didn't bother putting me on antibiotics, did she??
