Nate and Dylan Check Ups

While James enjoys Dinosaur camp this week, I took the younger boys in for their 3 year and 9 month old check ups (respectively). They did very well although it was a little stressful getting out in time to get James and his friend from camp!

Nate: very healthy for a 3 year old, esp. considering the surgeries and such from the past year. The doctor says he looks great and didn't comment on his speech, as of course I went a little overboard talking about his surgery and therapy, etc. He is 39.5 inches tall (90%), weighs 36 pounds (75%) and has good vision (okay, I have no idea about that - he went along with the vision test for a while and then got bored - just as the nurse said most 3 year olds do). His BMI is great - "long and lean". So besides the continual followups with his ENT and cardiologist (she types with a ha ha ha sarcastic/exhausted tone), Nate is looking awesome. I look forward to how his speech improves with preschool and therapy this coming year.

Dylan: very healthy 9 month old! 29.5 inches tall (87%), weighs 20 pounds 7 ounces (52%) and his head...well, okay, the measurements are in the car right now. But I can remember that his head is at the 90th percentile. Yikes! :) Overall, he is very healthy and doing great. She listened to his heart and didn't hear any evidence of a murmur (unlike when she listened to Nate's and said, "oh, yeah, I can definitely hear that") but agreed that I need to take Dylan and James in for echocardiograms. Otherwise, Dylan is developing just great - she couldn't get over how much he moves and pulls up and tentatively cruises. The only thing with Dylan is a little bald patch on the back of his head. It's either a spot where hair just might never grow or it's a birth mark that they might want to remove. In any case, I take Dylan in October for an appointment with the dermatologist. Dylan also got one shot today. Nate tried to soothe him with a pacifier, but since a) Dylan won't take them, and b) Nate was kicking it around on the floor, I thanked Nate nicely and then put it in my pocket.

We made it to get James and then headed home!
