I wish I had taken our camera this morning but alas I didn't think of it. James and I had a free morning and because the weather was decent I decided that we would go to the local community playground and then walk up to Giant to get food for our luncheon with Mollie and Steve tomorrow.
James REFUSED to ride in the stroller, so I let him walk next to me holding my hand. About 3/4 of the way there (it's not that far really) he consented to ride in the stroller, but only after running around some fields, pointing out birds and squirrels, looking for airplanes and waving hi to every car and truck that went by. It is enjoyable to see the world through a toddler's eyes. Oh, and the police sirens in the distance were very neat also.
We both enjoyed the playground. I brought along a towel to wipe down the climbing equipment and slides (it rained yesterday), as well as "Bob Ball" (James calls his SpongeBob bouncy ball this) and his mini football. We played around and looked for sticks in addition to climbing and sliding (okay, James did the climbing and sliding). Then we swung on the swings. James insists that I swing in the seat next to him when he is swinging. Already a considerate young gentleman. :) He actually sat in a big kid swing and held on really well - it was a very exciting day. :)
Then we walked up to Giant. That's when things got hairy. James didn't like the snacks I'd brought (Goldfish) and kept on trying to get out of the stroller. I started to get tired and hungry and we still had about 1/3 of a mile to walk. Then luckily a trash truck came by and that was exciting.
Giant itself was fine but I was near tears looking for some ingredients -- this is after James rejected two different types of cookies I chose for him. I ended up leaving with what I needed but without wine and with cookies he hated. He did eat the frosting off a basketball-decorated cookie.
The walk home was fine but I was really tired. I guess I am nearly 24 weeks pregnant but this is also because I'm really out of shape!! Luckily he was happy to go inside and play and have some lunch. I put him down for nap at 1:15 but I think he's JUST falling asleep now about 1/2 hour later. Even though I know he's tired. Yesterday he went to nap so easily and slept for nearly 3 hours. What's up with today? I definitely gave him "out of stroller" time to run around. And the fresh air certainly has made ME tired.
Go figure that as soon as we get home and I sit down with some lunch that the baby starts moving and kicking. I guess he woke up when I finally sat down. We'll see on Tuesday how much weight I've put on the past four weeks with all this running around. What a difference in pregnancies without working a desk job!!!
Our weekend looks nice - lunch here with Mollie and Steve tomorrow, continuing to clean and organize the blue room (aka James's new room), beginning to tape the upstairs bathroom for Greg to paint it, and possibly looking at furniture for James's new room as well. Trying to squeeze in home improvement stuff as much as we can before, 1) Megan's shower and 2) the arrival of baby Elmo. Who knows WHEN we'll ever be able to do anything AGAIN? :)
