Another Wednesday

I really will stop promising to upload photos because I never seem to get around to it. I actually will have time on Sunday after the baby shower on Saturday. So hopefully I can get some cute shots up then.

In the meantime, all is well. We had a nice visit in CT with Greg's parents. The drive up was tiring, but, we got there close to midnight. Fairly typical. Saturday we went to brunch at the favorite Saturday breakfast place - very tasty. James did pretty well there and enjoyed a 1/2 Belgian waffle. Then we went home and I went shopping with my mother in law. Maternity clothes, house stuff, and then we got our nails done. We were gone a long time but James did nap and then Greg was in charge, which worked out fine. We all met up at the house again with dinner we'd gotten from Stew Leonard's (a cool grocery store with lots of samples!). So we had a belated birthday dinner and cake for me, which was unexpected. But still very nice. Besides new clothes and my nails, I got a Roomba - a robotic vacuum. I'm psyched. The story behind it, though, is that Steph and Vince and Mike and Bonnie got it for my in-laws for Christmas but they got a cleaning service soon after and wouldn't be using it. So Nina offered it to Stephanie. Well, she didn't want it. So I offered to take it. It all worked out because Nina and David gave Steph and Vince the coffee maker that Greg and I had given them for Christmas a few years ago -- so no one feels guilty about accepting hand me downs anymore. :) Oh, and Bonnie and Sami got their nails done as well and then they plus Mike and Emma came for dinner - along with Otis, their sweet puppy - who James just LOVED. Otis nipped at him a few times but it was fine - at the end of the night, James was just exhausted.

Sunday morning we went for breakfast at Mike and Bonnie's - Emma made pancakes - and then headed home. It was an easy drive to my brother's to get Greg's car. But then Greg had to go to work, so James and I went home by ourselves. I got James to bed pretty easily then unloaded the car against Greg's wishes - I knew he'd work later than expected and I just wanted stuff DONE. So I was up until 11 getting organized for this week and the shower on Saturday. Greg got home at 11. Silly of me because I was exhausted.

Monday I was crazy and James and I went to Giant at 8:30 a.m. for groceries. We had music at 10 and then a sample music class at 11 so if we waited to get groceries until after nap, well, it could be trouble. In fact, going so early was okay - James was really calm the whole time. Phew. I just liked seeing the full fridge! Music class was fine but the 11 a.m. sample class was awful - James was grabby and assertive and just exhausting. I ended up feeding him Goldfish in a corner and taking notes over there. Obviously if I teach next year I cannot bring him with me!! I had rehearsal on Monday as well and was just so tired. Next Monday I am skipping rehearsal because they are recording with some random band in D.C. and I just don't feel like navigating N.E. DC that night. So Judy will come over for dinner, which will be fun.

Yesterday James had his first dental appointment. It was complementary so why not. He did extremely well and all is fine with his teeth. I so lied to the dentist about how often I brush his teeth. I should be better but it's such a struggle. Anyway, it was a quick (read: free) appointment, although they were very nice and we will go back there next year when James is on our dental plan. We then headed to Home Depot to get some more paint for touching up the bathroom. After that, it was ONLY 9:45 and I couldn't fathom heading home, so we went to Barnes & Noble for Starbucks (gift card! I'm all about not spending $$) and the train table. James loved it, as usual, and played with the chairs, the fake fence, the table, the books, etc. Eventually more kids showed up and we found out it was story day - well, at that point I just figured we'd stay. Great idea - - cute stories and then the kids got stickers and we did a craft. We got home at 11:45 - all for free!! I'm such a cheapskate.

During James's nap I pulled off the rest of the tape in the bathroom using a box cutter, which was a great idea - the tweezers just were too much trouble. Then I touched up both green and white. So we are VERY close to finishing up the bathroom, thank God. Mom came over and then James woke up before I headed to my 27 week check up. Everything looks fine and normal. I barely gained any weight, which was a relief. I've been more conscious of my salt and water intake the past few weeks so I think that's helped. I passed my gestational diabetes test with no trouble, which is also good. Baby's heartbeat was fine and he felt good to the doctor although he's barely moving. She said it's because my placenta is anterior and his feet are facing it, so a lot of movement is muffled. Fine by me as long as he's doing well.

James did great with Grandma and then we played and had dinner and watched Thomas on the computer. Then after bath we hung up some things around the house - I have to use James's play hammer as we can't find our real one. It's actually quite effective. Either that or our house sucks. And then we cleaned up the blue room in anticipation of getting the bathroom back together. Unfortunately, Greg had to work until 9 p.m. so we didn't get stuff hung up - I'm nervous about leveling things. Hopefully tonight and then hopefully tomorrow night Greg can mow the grass.

I've just had the realization that I need to take more photos of my pregnant self to show this baby - not that he will care, but his kids might someday. :) I'll get Greg to take some today. The nurse yesterday said from the back you can hardly tell I'm pregnant - I told her of course, it's because I'm having a boy! :) Although my mom said she carried both my brother and me the same way, straight out front, so maybe that's not true. We'll see for #3 -- ask me in two years.

Today we have park day with MOMS Club, although it's cloudy out - I checked the weather and it's supposed to not rain and be nice. Let's keep our fingers crossed!!!
