Leaking Tub

So our bathtub is leaking (the faucet, actually). Today the plumbers came and it will cost $500 to repair. YIKES. Well, there goes that fun money.

Just kidding. We don't really have $500 in fun money. But frustrating to have to spend money on your friggin bathtub. At least now it'll be a new faucet that won't ever be able to scald anyone. So the plumber pointed this out to me as I'm holding a crying Nate and James is running around watching "Turtles" (aka "Finding Nemo") again. Sigh.

Anyway, that was the start of our Tuesday. It was a busy morning. First the plumber, then a friend from MOMS Club to drop off the cooler (meals are put in the cooler so as not to disturb the new mom who SHOULD be sleeping - yet here I am, interneting away), then a quick trip to the gas station (Nate was NOT HAPPY), then the post office, then home, then friend Tara with lunch (thank you!) and a visit, then Greg to get names of plumbers to call for quotes (we decided to go with the first plumber as they reconstruct the tile, yippee), etc. Luckily it all wore James out. After promising a trip to the park post-nap (ugh, it's so hot out but I promised), I got him down for nap while also holding/nursing Nate -- James got out of bed after lying there for a few seconds and basically declared he was going to sleep on the floor. Okey dokey, whatever. I put a blanket on him and gave him his favorite stuffed animals and basically stroked his hair for a few minutes. He fell asleep and I left. Almost immediately got Nate into the crib for his nap (!) and have enjoyed some time to myself. Nate woke up but nursed back to sleep and I got him back in the crib....we'll see how long this all lasts.

Besides today's adventures, the weekend was good. Saturday we did stuff here and Greg researched swim classes for him and James. We're hoping they get off the wait list and get into a class for the fall on a weekend morning. Then we did a family trip to Target and spent way too much money. Then I wanted Chik Fil A so we did drive through. That afternoon we went to Gymboree for a birthday party for friend Ali (Tara's daughter), which James enjoyed immensely. There was pizza and cake so we also enjoyed ourselves. :) Sunday we again did stuff here and then went up to MD for nephew Jack's birthday party - good crabs and yummy side dishes. James didn't nap on the way up because the timing was during naptime, but was in a good mood and played hard all afternoon. Was up all the way home but then was miserable when I put him to bed. Greg went to Home Depot to try to get parts to fix the faucet (and hence the plumber) so I was in charge of both boys. Nate of course woke up soon after we got home (I was praying he'd sleep in the car seat for a while while I got James down but alas no) so I had to leave James to his own devices to fall asleep. There was about 5 minutes of screaming and crying and heart wrenching agony and then silence. I checked on him later and he was sound asleep.

Yesterday we went to Music Play sample classes to try and help out Heather with questions, etc. Nate slept during the entire two hours. James got antsy near the end but was good enough on the way home that I could get dry cleaning and get him and I bagels. I think I am attempting to do too much but I hate the idea that I feel too tied down or useless. Luckily Nate is still young enough to go with the flow and James is usually bribed with cookies or the park. :)

Speaking of bad mommy, while James is sleeping on his floor, Nate is sleeping in his crib on his stomach and with a blanket. I should just put a pillow under his head and call it a day (thanks for the reminder that that's another SIDS danger, EH!).
