Inauguration Day

I feel that I should spend a few moments noting this in my blog - today is Inauguration Day 2009. It is a historic day, with the first Kenyan-American/Kansas-Hawaiian-American man being sworn in as our president. I think Barack Obama is an extremely intelligent, very likeable, and hard-working man. I also think expectations are incredibly high for his tenure as our president. I can only wish him the very best as he tackles the issues our nation is currently experiencing.

As voiced by my friend Leslie on Facebook, though, I am notjust now proud to be an American. I always have been. I am incredibly proud that we have come so far in so short a time. I think it's very momentous. And wonderful. So the next thing is...A WOMAN AS PRESIDENT!!! :)

All is well in Z land. We enjoyed watching the Inauguration at Sarah's house - so it was a playdate as well, which has apparently worn my boys out. Nate was up until 1 p.m. and is still napping in his car seat. And I THINK James must be sleeping in his room. I should go check on him. In any case, they are both resting. For this, I am grateful.

We are still only so-so on the sleeping. I adore Nate but he is frustrating sometimes. I just have to remember that tomorrow is another day and that we'll get there. We've survived 6 months and almost all of it has been without tears (from me, that is).

Menus - again, I am slacking. But, I will share this week's menus:
Sunday: Rotisserie chicken, roasted butternut squash, garlic/olive oil vermicelli with mushrooms.
Monday: Salmon burgers, low-fat coleslaw, salad.
Tuesday: Pizza with red sauce, leftover rotisserie chicken, and just a little cheese
Weds: Crockpot white chicken chili
Thurs: Baby Sprinkle for Melissa, so leftover mac & cheese, veggie pizza, and fruit.
Friday: Beef or shrimp stir fry

I guess I should have all red, white & blue food for today. We did have blueberries and strawberries for breakfast, and we are having pizza with red sauce tonight. What's blue I can put on pizza?

On that thought, Nate is awake. Good nap! Woo hoo!! Better go rescue him from his car seat.
