Adventures in Napping

So James is flirting with giving up his nap. NNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Actually, it wouldn't be that bad. It would make his bedtime efficient and early. So that would be nice - to have more of a grown up evening.

James didn't nap this past Monday or Tuesday, but did on Wednesday and Thursday. Yesterday (Thursday) I only got a nap from him when we lay down on my bed together.

Today, Friday, we had a busy morning. We met up with friends at the Falls Church Community Center open gym (free!) and James ran around for a while (after he warmed up to the place). After we got home, we played then did some computer games and then we did stories and milk. Nate had slept in the car so he was (and is) wide awake during this. Anyway, around 1:30 I shut James' door and told him he had to stay in and play until I came to get him. He played for a while and then I had a phone call.

Well, it's now 2:30 and after being spit up on, I decided to change Nate (who spit up more on himself) and then check on James. He is sound asleep, on the floor, with the lights on. I took a photo but can't post it yet because I haven't downloaded any photos from the new camera yet. Suffice it to say, he must have been mid play, because he's facing the train table (yes, he's breathing), on his tummy, and his feet are crossed at the ankle.

Funny kid. Definitely exploring the nap vs. no nap issue. We'll see how it all shakes out.

p.s. Did I mention that now after we saw "Thank you" to James he responds "You're welcome". It's so funny and cute. And we love it. I feel like Super Nanny would also be very pleased with how we are handling James's tantrums. I feel like a mean mommy sometimes but I do my best to remain firm on the topic of bedtime, routine and staying in his room. I know this is all for the best rather than having the kids run all over us, but man, sometimes it would definitely be easier to give in.
