Updates on our life here at Z-ville:
Nate - Loves, loves, LOVES his jumper. I put him in it and not only does he enjoy it a ton, he always poops. It's great. I put him in in the morning and he has his morning constitutional. Instead of coffee and the paper, Nate goes the jumper route. It makes more sense from a graviational point of view. Plus, it's quite an educational toy. I mean, it's made by Little Einsteins.
James - I think the naps are over. It's been almost a week without one. The good thing is that bedtime is promptly at 7 - that's when milk and books begin. Lights out no later than 7:30. If Nate sticks to his schedule, then he's also asleep by 7 or 7:15. So it's okay. Right now, James isn't napping but is playing in his room - coloring, puzzles. I'm also letting him watch Teletubbies in there. At least it gives me some time - well, not really, as Nate is here jumping. And pooping. :)
Nate - Back to the babe. Sleep. Well, it's just not our thing. The boys are my children in the respect that they do not sleep well. He's up at least once or twice a night. I know right now he's teething again and crawling is imminent. But man. I'm tired. Whenever we want to just throw up our hands in frustration, he smiles the cutest smiles. So we forgive him for being a baby and not knowing how to sleep yet.
Otherwise, life continues as normal around here. I have officially signed up for a half marathon, which will happen in 3 months. I ran 6 miles last Saturday in just over an hour (just over a 10 minute pace to be more precise) - my goal was 4.5 - 5 miles, but I felt so good I just kept going. I wouldn't say I felt "fantastic". And yes, my legs sort of were hurting by the end, but, I did it. With hardly any training at all. Based on that, I think I can definitely do the half marathon in 2 hours and 30 minutes. This is my goal. I did my other half marathon in 1 hour 56 minutes. That was 5 years, 2 babies and 15 pounds ago. So I'm cutting myself some slack. It will be a great experience no matter what. My goal is to slowly build up my mileage over the next three months - this time I would like to run the 13 miles a few weeks prior to the race - last time I only ran 10 in preparation. I was pretty beat by mile 11. Granted, I had also gone out WAY too fast. This time I will wear the GPS and keep a good track on my pace, trying to stick to 10-12 minute miles.
I'm also considering giving up sugar for Lent. This would include cookies, brownies, cake, ice cream, and Coke. This would be VERY HARD for me. But I know it's a small sacrifice in comparison to Jesus' sacrifice. So, we'll see. I have a week to gorge until Ash Wednesday. And then it really is just 40 days.
Speaking of Jesus (transition not so PC?), we have set Nate's baptism - yea!! And I'm thinking more and more about our summer vacation. We need to do something and get away for a week. I want the beach, and I really might just want the four of us. Not exactly a "vacation", since the change of scenery wouldn't keep me from cooking, cleaning, and being Mom. But still, the sun, the sand, and just a slower pace would be nice.
I guess I should check for Nate's afternoon constitutional and see if James is still content in his room. I'm hoping that even if I can't run during the week (too dark by the time Greg gets home) I can do cross training with DVDs, so that's my new goal. Along with no sugar and running on the weekends, hopefully I can lose this mom gut!

My youngest gave up naps around age 3. We have a 7 o'clock bedtime too. She usually wakes between 6 and 7 and by 6:30 in the evening she will ask me if it's bedtime yet. You gotta love that! It's nice to keep that quiet time in their room even if they aren't napping. It's a nice break for everyone.
