A new SAHM friend (she was working with 2 year old twins until last week) asked me for some advice on being home. This is what I told her:
1) A good imagination and some fun toddler craft/activity books.
2) A strong network of friends for playdates/playgroups.
3) A healthy sense of reality - i.e. sometimes the TV is necessary to get things done.
4) Time for yourself (pedis, exercise, dinner with the girls).
5) Wine.
What thinks you, oh friends of the blog, all 5 of you? :)

- Don't give yourself more than one thing to really accomplish in a day. My list used to be about 8 items long. When I got tired of 'failing', I discovered that pruning the list helped.
- Don't do it alone. Just because you are the SAHM doesn't mean you are the only parent. Mr. Husband also gets to do things: put away laundry, bathe cuties, and load the dishwasher.
- If you have the choice of sleeping 5 more minutes or taking a quick shower, choose to shower. It makes a huge difference in how you feel both emotionally and physically.
- Remember that you are still yourself. You didn't get lost underneath all the laundry, diapers, pacifiers, playdates, and preschool fundraisers. You are still there and you need to keep in touch with that chick. She's freakin' awesome!
- Get out of the house. Even if it's a very slow walk around the block. It will waste time and wear dear child out. And you'll get to come out of the cave and see daylight.
