I hear birds singing...

because I have the windows open. It's a lovely sound. Plus, that's about all I hear: both boys are down for naps. The time goes very quickly when they are asleep. So I'm doing my best to relax and not do so much --- I'm trying to be more efficient when they are awake and/or use time more wisely. So during any time I get entirely to myself, I'm enjoying some fresh air, the sound of the birds, a new Taste of Home magazine, and some apple juice. I'm a simple person when you get down to details.

A few housekeeping items:
1) Congrats to my lovely friend Paula on the birth of her son, Braden Thomas C. We are so excited for all of you, and can't wait to meet him.
2) Confidential to Josh U.: Rachel says you read my enlightening blog. I shout a "Hello" to you in Colorado! :) We would LOVE to come visit - maybe next spring???
3) I don't think there's a # 3. But it seems better to number lists up to # 3 - otherwise, I wouldn't number them. And since I'd already started...yada yada yada.

In other news....

- Nate's second tooth has popped through. THANK GOD. He's slept terribly the past few nights. I pray and hope things get better now. I'm very. tired.
- I ran 7 miles on Sunday! I convinced two friends to run the first 5 miles with me and it was awesome. I then felt good enough to do another 2 on my own. My overall pace was 10:43/mile. I'm not incredibly happy about this, but, I think it's a fair and safe pace considering the lack of training I am doing during the week. I'm going out again with the girls on Sunday and they both want to run 7 with me again - yea!
- My a cappella group is having a gig on April 28 at Jammin' Java with Cartoon Johnny, an amazing local DC group...I'm thrilled because two old co-singers (not really a word but might be...discuss) from dcVocals (we're talking right out of college/97/Ally McBeal was the popular show) are in this group and I haven't seen them in forever. Very exciting.
- James' language skills are improving daily - it's fascinating to have real conversations with him now. And so wonderful. He's not super strong with prepositions (gets "with", "to", "for" and "from" confused) but the sentiment is there. And he's easily corrected. Still working on some letter sounds too but overall I'm doing less translating. :)
- Nate is babbling a lot these days and says "ma ma" (yea!) and "ba ba" a LOT. He's also army crawling all over the room. He dislikes his toys and would prefer to scooch over for the package of wipes, James' diapers and anything that is inappropriate. Sigh.
- Speaking of James' diapers. Sigh. Underpants on Sunday = two accidents, including one with, a-hem, # 2. Greg took care of it (yee haw!). :)
- Greg is living a spartan lifestyle for Lent (it was vegan, then veg/fish only, now spartan) and is doing well and losing weight. I have given up sweets and seem to be the same weight. What gives?! In one way I'll be glad to be done nursing so I can get some weight down in, a-hem, other areas. :) Hopefully I'm just getting stronger and the slimness will follow? In addition to running I'm trying to do the 30 day shred a few times a week (okay, maybe 2 times if I'm lucky), so we'll see.

I feel like so much more is going on but I'm too busy in the moment to write it all down. Suffice it to say, my boys are all doing great!

Hopefully I'll post some photos soon....

Hi Jenn. We'd love to have you. Early spring is a great time to visit -- the weather is usually pretty nice down here, but the skiing is good up in the mountains. Plus James will be about the right age to try it (with Penny, of course).

Good luck on the half marathon training. I'm going to do one too, though I haven't decided whether it will be June or August. I'm registered to run the Chicago Marathon in October, and I'd really like to go under 2:59:59 -- but to do that, I need to start in the front, and to do THAT, I have to run a half marathon fast enough to get a seeded time (1:25:59 is the cut-off).

Say hi to the boys. Rachel told Penny that she was talking to you the other day, and Penny really liked your name. She kept repeating it and giggling. I took her to the movie the next day and she would reach over and say "Daddy! Peel Chunky!". (Modified for privacy purposes.)
