Kitchen Re-do aka Let's test the limits of Jenn's sanity

So we decided to re-do our kitchen - not just re-do the appliances. No, no, that would be too easy. No, we have gutted the whole thing and torn down the wall between the kitchen and dining room. Plus, we've ripped up all the flooring. It will be all new and sparkling and shiny and wonderful.

It will also take 6 weeks.

We're on week # 2. We've adjusted pretty well to having the fridge in the cat room, and the microwave/toaster oven in a closet. Our dining room is just a card table now. We've so far depended on the kindness of friends and family for cooking pasta and for having us over to eat. We're supporting the local economy by eating out all weekend long.

We're also all going a little nuts with the banging. I respect the process a great deal and am happy we have a contractor who is on schedule and is good about it. But in the process we are finding things here and there that need adjusting.

We are also dealing with some sicknesses this week - James with his tummy and Nate with his nose and a fever. James stayed home from school today (first time ever) but it was okay because the garage power had been turned off by the electrician (who finally figured it all out) and then I had an emergency babysitting job for two boys (their mom is a neighborhood friend). So, in the end, we are having a good day at home.

The kitchen re-do will be absolutely, positively worth it.

Maintaining my sanity is not as important. Because as long as I have natural stone backsplash nothing else really matters.
