We've had a good week. I think I wrote about Monday already. I can't remember and am too lazy to pause this to check. Anyway (okay, at this point I had to get up to check the calendar, my mind really is mush), on Tuesday we went to play at Meadowlane Park in Vienna again with Kim and Laura and their boys Jackson and Logan, respectively. It was a gorgeous day, although a bit cool, we all decided. Hard to decide what to put the little ones in! While at the park I ran into a gal from my freshman hall at William & Mary, which was funny.
This time while leaving the park my car thankfully started. Phew. We went that afternoon to visit Kate and Jack and to meet their new baby Jane, who is four weeks younger than Nate. A sweet princess! The boys played while Kate and I caught up and held the babies. Leslie and Kate swung by with a meal for Kate also, so it was very nice to see them. That evening Greg and I went to Parent Info Night at James' school while Nana watched the boys. Thanks Mom!
On Wednesday the boys and I went to a MOMS Club 2 year old playgroup at Stacy's; it was very fun for James. They have a moonbounce INSIDE their basement, as well as a mini trampoline, a mini rock climbing wall AND a play kitchen. James jumped and jumped and was a great napper that afternoon. :) After nap we went to Elizabeth, Matthew and David's house for some more bouncing in their moon bounce and then the boys enjoyed some popsicles.
Yesterday, Thursday, James had school. This week's theme was "My New Friends". He didn't come home with any artwork but it looks like they colored paper cut outs of people with markers and different craft items, then the teachers taped them all together so it looked like they were holding hands. So cute. One of these days I will take a photo of our dining room ceiling which is now half covered with artwork from James. :) During James' school time, Nate and I went to Target to take care of the October birthdays in our families (Ethan, Emma, and Steph) and I got some transitional jeans for the cooler weather until I can fit into my jeans (and at this rate, even with the jogging, the amount of sugar I'm consuming will not help my weight loss). Speaking of, at our Weds playgroup, there were three baby boys born in July (so that was fun to see all the babies), and Mary Kay said that the reason new moms crave sugar is for the quick energy fix. That makes TOTAL sense.
Last night we had our first GNO (no, not a medical procedure, but that's how it sounds, according to Elizabeth [and I tend to agree with her]) with the moms from our Weds playgroup. What has happened, sadly, is that our Weds playgroup (which was originally Friday afternoons, then Friday mornings) got too big. 8 moms with 8 kids is manageable. 8 moms with 15 kids (plus 2 on the way) is not. The shyer kids were overwhelmed, and the more assertive kids were just too crowded. So, we decided to split. Currently, the split is based on kids' personalities. So this is sad for us moms to not see each other so often, but better overall for the kids to be able to play more easily. That being said, we are not not talking to each other - in fact, if 2 families from one group cannot get with the other 2 that week, then we crash the other group (which is what we are doing this upcoming Weds). Plus, we are getting together for a family bbq in mid-Oct. AND doing a Halloween playgroup with all the kids. So in fact, we are all getting together quite often, including last night. We met up (just the moms, woo hoo) for our Girls Night Out at Cosi - Beth, our next new mom of 2, was craving her some S'mores. So we had dinner, a few drinks, and S'mores. Plus some nice conversation and no children! :) It was a really nice evening.
Unfortunately, all my boys were awake when I got home around 9:30. I got James in bed and then Greg took over the final bedtime routine (those two have a special night time routine they do) and then I got Nate. Nate did fall asleep and did a stint in the crib from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Then he was up at 3:30, 4:30, around 5:15, and then some other time in the 6 o'clock hour. I think we wake each other up. I have GOT to get him back in the crib but I'm SO tired by the middle of the night and so nervous about the tummy sleeping. Oh, well. Luckily this morning James slept until 7:20 or so and then Greg saw how tired I was (and Nate was finally sleeping soundly) so he allowed James to watch "Monsters, Inc." in the living room while he (Greg) got ready for work. So I didn't get out of bed until 8 a.m., which was nice. Still am pretty tired though. And Nate was as well, he basically slept all morning at Wee Play and then at Costco.
So that leads to now...we had Wee Play this morning, where the theme was farm animals. Very fun, always. Then we headed to Costco and met up with Greg and my brother, where we enjoyed a fancy lunch of pizza and fro yo. :) David went back to work and then Greg helped me shop at Costo. Nate was fortunately sleeping in the stroller so Greg pushed James in the cart and followed me around as I threw various items in the cart. For once I brought along coupons and actually saved me some money on items we needed. Yea! Greg loaded us in the car and we came on home. Unloading was a pain but Nate slept until I had everything inside and woke up in time for me to get James down for his nap. Obviously now they are both sleeping but not for much longer! :)
Melissa and Owen are coming over to play very soon - Owen and James are now in different Weds playgroups (although we are in the Tues/Thurs every other week playgroup and in Wee Play) so Melissa and I decided to set up a playdate for the boys to hang out. It will be fun!
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
