James is napping today. Amen. Yesterday he came out of his room at 3 p.m. and announced he'd poohed. So maybe his tummy hurt and that's why he didn't nap. We went to Frying Pan Park (it was gorgeous out) and saw Heather, Erin and Corinne and all their kids and spent some nice time outside. Greg surprised us there and we all came home together. Boys both had baths and were both in bed by 7:30 (well, Nate was in bed at 7:45). James was OUT by 7:40. Greg and I actually enjoyed an evening in quiet. Maybe when James gives up his nap it won't be a bad thing. But I will still enjoy "quiet time".
In any case, James was up early, around 6:45 a.m. today. So we were all up. No problem, as it was preschool day. So things were calmer getting ready to go. In fact, we were WAY early as traffic was light, so we drove around the block a bit. I dropped James off and he did ask where I was going. I told him I was going shopping which seemed to help. :) Then Nate and I were off to Giant to get snacks for MOMS Club and our shower/lunch. I felt very healthy buying a veggie platter and a fruit platter. :)
Nate and I came home and I managed to get the dishes unloaded and some Quicken done before he needed attention. We cuddled and nursed and then we had to leave again to get to the MOMS Club meeting. It was a "Go Green" family event - lots of non-members, which was great to see. I could only stay a while but did manage to show Nate off to my friends for a while. :) He was angelic and slept through it. Then we headed over to Jane's for Elise's surprise shower. It was great - Jane got sandwiches and made cupcakes and we all brought sides and gifts for Madeline and the new baby boy to-be. I had to scoot out around 11:40 to get James - Nate was sleeping so I left him there, which was a big help. I picked up James, who once again told me he missed me (cue the "aw") and had ketchup all over his shirt. I forgot that today's snack was french fries and ketchup...oops. Surprisingly, his bag had no artwork in it, although everyone else's did....hhhmmm....I was in too much of a hurry to ask his teacher about it, and figured that he either didn't do any or it was still drying (it looked like painting). In any case, he ate some food in the car on the way back to Jane's and was happy to arrive and to see Owen. VERY happy to see Owen. It was cute. :)
Of course, when I walked in, Nate woke up. So I got James some food (read: cheese stick) and myself a sandwich, and nursed Nate. Things were a bit chaotic at that point but still much fun. James was happy to see the girls and Logan too and enjoyed looking at Jane's dogs. He ate the cupcake I got (which was fine as I'd had a cookie at MOMS Club) and we watched Elise and Madeline open their gifts. It was a lovely luncheon.
We came home and I convinced James that he needed a nap. He claimed he was hungry so he had some raisins and some milk. And we read "Cat's Colors" and "White Rabbit's Color Book" at least four times EACH before he got in bed. He actually knows his colors very well so he gets really pleased when pointing them out to me, so I like that. I got him to sleep and then about half hour later got Nate in his crib. So I've had about an hour to myself.
And what have I done? Oh, the usual. Watched soaps, ate bon bons. Okay, not really. Email, updated our calendar, lifted weights and did sit ups, etc. I'm going to go jogging today and take James, so I have to get psyched up for that. On the good news front, I'm down 6 pounds from 3 weeks ago!! I randomly got on the scale today and was happily surprised. I've gone jogging maybe 6 times and have lifted weights about that many times. Otherwise, I've been a bit better about my food intake (trying to cut back on Cokes and fat) but not really restrictive. In any case, my goal is another 18 pounds, with the remainder of the weight to be lost post-breastfeeding. I don't think the next 18 will come off this quickly, but, I have signed up for a 5k as motivation to keep jogging. Yea! Go me! Okay, enough of this go me stuff! :)
I'd better check on my babies. Have I mentioned lately how much I adore my boys? Well, if not, I do. :)
